Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reveal the Things They Hate About Being a Royal
Sep 7, 2018 By Jamie Kreps

The Royal Couple. Not that there’s much to complain about in the world of living like a royal, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently let slip their biggest pet peeve of being members of the Royal family. You might think it’s all roses and personal servants, but there are definitely downsides.

Life as a Royal. Sure there are some seriously posh perks to being a royal. I mean, there’s the servants and the catered food, the riches and the castles, the sports cars and well, there’s the whole family jewels thing. With all that royal treatment, what’s to complain about, right?

Except This One Thing. All of that may be fantastic, but it does come with a pretty hefty price. For starters, there are a seriously dramatic and strict set of rules and regulations that surround literally everything the royals can and can’t do on a daily basis.

Regulations. The palace dictates strict wardrobe requirements, how to wear your hair, what kind of purse to carry, what accessories are appropriate, how often and what manner you’re allowed to publicly show affection for your spouse… pretty much everything is dictated by them.

Not All. But all of that aside, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say that’s not the worst of it. Not only are there so many regulations in place, there is an army of media members waiting to catch them stepping out of line at every move and every outing they are on.

Royal Plusses. “On the one hand, there’s the almost unimaginable wealth. You can drive around in the most expensive European sports cars; you can travel the world on private aircraft belonging to your family; you can stay in multiple ancient castles and manor houses all adorned with priceless art, while the best chefs in the world attend to your every need,” writes Inquisitr.com.

Royal Minuses. “On the other hand, there are the stifling rules. The immense pressure. The press writing extensively about your every minor indiscretion, even when you step oh-so-slightly out of line. The cameras snapping pictures of you everywhere you go,” Inquisitr.com explains.

The Paparazzi. In a recent outing to a children’s hospital Prince Harry is an advocate for, the royal couple let it slip that the paparazzi is perhaps their most hated part of being a royal. The admission came out during a visit with one little boy who was a patient in the hospital and had a conversation with the couple.

The Admission. “As Meghan and Harry approached the young boy for the requisite photo op, (the boy) said that he didn’t like being in front of the cameras. (His) mother Amy said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told her son they were with him on that one,” writes Inquisitr.com.

The Boy. The young boy, 4-year-old McKenzie Brackley was being honored with an award for his bravery for fighting Acute Flaccid Paralysis and had been required to take a photo with the royal couple for the award. After learning he was afraid, the royal couple immediately turned away from the cameras, so he didn’t have to be faced with them any longer.

Protecting the Child. “They were so lovely. They knew McKenzie was scared of the cameras and they said they didn’t like the cameras either, so they turned around,” said McKenzie’s mom, Amy. The royal couple tried to respect the child’s wishes by keeping his exposure to a minimum after learning he was afraid of the cameras.

For Good Reason. The shared hatred for paparazzi comes with good reason for the royal family. Considering the death of Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, was caused by the paparazzi chasing after her car, it’s no wonder the royals have a genuine despise for that aspect of their lives.

Following Meghan. In addition to the historical beef with the paparazzi, Prince Harry has allegedly been angry with members of the press in recent months as well over their constant reports on the supposed wrong-doings of Meghan Markle. Insiders say he’s been furious over not being able to protect her from the bombardment by the press.

Press Release. “Kensington Palace took the extremely rare step of publicly asking the photographers to back off,” in 2016 according to Inquisitr.com. “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Marke’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” the press release said.

Some Positives. On the plus side, Prince Harry does state that he understands the press plays a major role on a positive note as well, so it is tolerated as best he can. Without the press, he says, he wouldn’t be able to raise as much awareness for his causes such as the WellChild Awards he handed out recently.
